- Arable (cropping) and machinery operators for work the UK ~ Pommie farmers love the Kiwis! ~Seasonal Requirement: March to November - Prime season (harvest and planting) July to October.Crops: Wheat, barley, canola(oil seed), peas, beans, potatoes, sugar beet and grass. Tractor and trailer work, harvester driving, baling, silaging, hay making, crop spraying, fertilizer application. Ploughing, heavy cultivation, planting, rolling etc. People required with experience with 2-wd & 4-wd tractors, Cats, Quadtracs, combines, harvesters, telehandler, back hoes, loading shovels, 360s and truck licenses.Competent, experienced tractor/harvester drivers are always in demand. Planting of spring crops starts in March, but the majority of cereal drilling is done immediately after harvest in September and October. So if you want to be sure of a job: be in the UK July to October.The majority of the jobs include accommodation in mobile homes, farm flats or they find somewhere local for you. Most farms will lend you a vehicle for your groceries - or a bike if you want to go to the pub!! You will get free or cheap accommodation, do lots of hours and although the pay is not brilliant, living is cheap and you will be able to save a good amount of money.Working on a farm is the best way to discover the real UK. Cities are the same the world over, but the countryside and its people varies enormously!
